International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights
The IHF is a nongovernmental organization that promotes compliance of the states participating in the OSCE with the human rights provisions to which they committed themselves in the Helsinki Final Act and its Follow-up Documents, as well as with relevant international law. Based in Vienna, the IHF represents 39 Helsinki Committees and cooperating human rights groups in Europe and North America. In addition to supporting and providing liaison among its member committees and associated human rights groups, the IHF gathers information and documents on the human rights situation throughout the territory of the OSCE. In cooperation with affiliates, the IHF has organized transnational human rights projects and fact-finding missions in the Baltic States, in Central Europe, in the Balkans, and in the former USSR.
