The Russian Coalbed Methane Center promotes the development of coalbed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM) recovery in Russia. The sites are open to everyone and are usually located in an easily accessible location, such as the central oblast library or University library. Volunteers develop new curriculum and materials for Russian business and language trainers. By imparting skills in English and business, Volunteers are instrumental in preparing young Russians to participate in the global economy. Volunteers are helping to disseminate practical business information, build new civic institutions, revitalize education and protect the environment. www.sabitprogram.org Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) Program The US Department of Commerce's SABIT Program assists economic restructuring in the New Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union while boosting U.S. trade opportunities. It places NIS executives and scientists in U.S. firms for three- to six-month internships to gain firsthand experience in a market economy. Programs include: NIS Standards Program; Russian Far East Programs; Russian Far East Port Development; Merchandising in Russia (MIR); and Environmental Technologies. www.cs.vladivostok.com The U.S. Commercial Service The US Commercial Services in Vladivostok can assist Russian firms wishing to import American products and services or to form joint ventures with US partners. It's primary mission is to facilitate the establishment of American firms in the Russian Far East and promotes the export of U.S. products and services to the local market. Commercial Service Officers and Commercial Specialists consult with U.S. firms about market conditions and commercial opportunities, provide assistance with establishing business contacts and identifying potential business partners, and help resolve trade and investment problems. The Vladivostok office is a clearing house for information on U.S. government and private sector programs and services of interest to American firms.
