Private Sector Partnerships

Recognizing the need to maximize development impact, USAID leverages U.S. foreign assistance with the resources and expertise of private firms and organizations through Global Development Alliances. The combination of the public and private sectors' skills and assets encourage innovative approaches, more effective problem-solving and deeper development impact. Expanding such partnerships is one of USAID's top priorities.

In Russia, USAID has established more than a dozen effective and sustainable development partnerships with Russian and international corporations. Since 2003, Global Development Alliance (GDA) partners have committed over $80 million and USAID has contributed $17 million in support of partnership projects across Russia.  When developing new alliances, USAID strives to design targeted social investment programs that build linkages between business and local government, create jobs for youth and members of other at-risk groups, and improve living conditions in areas where partners work.

GDA partners include Russian and multinational companies, financial institutions, media agencies, and charitable foundations, as well as relevant Russian government agencies.
