Reaching Out to Russia's Top Graduate Students

Reaching Out to Russia's Top Graduate Students

On December 14, Mission Director Charles North met with students from Russia's top diplomatic academy to present an overview of USAID's worldwide activities and answer questions about USAID's programs, including programs in Russia.  The meeting was organized by the Department of International Economic Relations at MGIMO (the Moscow State Institute for International Relations), and included students from three departments. The students were particularly interested in USAID's cooperation with the Russian government in development assistance to third countries.  Mr. North talked about his personal experiences through more than 20 years at USAID, and answered questions on a range of topics including USAID's health priorities, evaluation and monitoring, and support for democracy.  Faculty at MGIMO are collaborating with USAID to create an academic program in development assistance.  Other Russian academic institutions partnering with USAID include Moscow's Higher School of Economics.
