This three-day event was organized by the Far East Center of Civil Initiatives and Social Partnership under the LIDER project, which is implemented by Winrock International. On July 21, the Primorskaya School of Human Rights conducted a play-based training session on human rights for about 40 children at a summer camp just outside Vladivostok. The Primorskaya School of Human Rights is a USAID sub-grantee under the "Our Rights" project being implemented by Management Systems International. The trainers led the children through a series of games, quizzes, art competitions and puppet shows that taught them about their basic rights. The activities also introduced information about key international agreements such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. more... |

A group of 105 young people from across the North Caucasus gathered at a mountain retreat in Kabardino-Balkaria for a week of activities designed to foster cross-cultural understanding. This was the second in a series of Youth Sports Camps organized by IREX as part of the USAID-funded Youth Initiative for the Promotion of Peace in the North Caucasus. The camp took place from July 7-13 and included young men and women (aged 14-17) from Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, and Stavropol Kray. more... |
